what is nut mylk — and why we make it fresh in dubai

"mylk" isn't a typo — it's how we tell our plant-based drinks apart from dairy, and it's a small flag for how we make them: fresh, from real nuts, with nothing to hide. but if you're new to the world of dairy-free milk, the shelf can be confusing. so let's clear it up — what nut mylk actually is, how ours is different, and how to use it every day.

so, what is nut mylk?

nut mylk is a dairy-free drink made from real nuts and water — no cow's milk and no lactose. the nuts are blended, strained and bottled, and the result is a smooth, pourable milk you can use almost anywhere you'd use dairy. the catch is that not all nut milks are made equally. many are built to survive months on a shelf, which usually means added stabilisers, oils and sweeteners — and a taste that's more carton than nut.

how we make ours

at buttr we make nut mylk the honest way: 100% natural and plant-based, with no preservatives and no emulsifiers, blended in small batches right here in Dubai. no long-life shortcuts. it's a little more effort and a shorter shelf life, but it means our mylk tastes like the nut it came from — clean, fresh and real.

meet the range

every mylk has its own personality, so there's one for every use:

  • almond mylk — light, clean and endlessly versatile; the easy everyday choice
  • cashew mylk — naturally creamy and mild, gorgeous in coffee
  • oat mylk — smooth and gently sweet; the barista favourite that froths and balances beautifully
  • coconut mylk — rich, with a soft tropical note
  • walnut & pistachio mylks — for when you want something with real depth and character

why "fresh" actually matters

a lot of plant milk is engineered to sit in a warehouse. ours isn't. we blend in small batches and deliver fresh because we think a nut mylk should taste of the nut, not the packaging. one honest consequence of skipping emulsifiers: a little natural separation in the bottle is completely normal. it's a good sign, not a fault — just give it a gentle shake before you pour, and keep it chilled.

how to use nut mylk every day

if you can pour milk, you can use nut mylk. some of our favourite ways:

  • in your morning coffee, tea, matcha or hot chocolate (oat and cashew are lovely here)
  • over cereal, granola or overnight oats
  • blended into smoothies and protein shakes
  • in baking, pancakes and creamy sauces, one-for-one wherever you'd use milk
  • or simply poured cold into a glass — try pistachio or walnut for a change

who it's for

whether you're fully plant-based, lactose-free, or just looking for something cleaner and fresher than a long-life carton, nut mylk is an easy, everyday swap that doesn't ask you to compromise on taste. and because everything we make is nut-based, do check the nut if you're pouring for someone with a nut allergy.
